Vodka is a clear distilled spirit which originates from Russia and Poland. It is usually made from distilling starches such as grains or potatoes, although some brands use fruit or sugar as a base to create it. The spirit is then filtered multiple times to create a clean palate and remove impurities. The word vodka derives from the Slavic word ‘voda’ which translates to ‘water’, and it is believed to be already produced since the middle ages.
Vodkas are mainly divided by the country of origin, the ingredients used to make it, and also the flavouring that is added to them such as herbs or fruit. Vodkas are mainly drunk neat or on ice but are very popular as long drinks and as part of a cocktail.
At the Vineyard one can find a wide variety of vodkas from all over the World, from the entry level to the premium ones.
