The Chateau Musar 1997 has a deep cherry red colour and a smoky nose full of spice and mature cherry fruit. On the palate, flavours of cherries, redcurrants, pomegranates mix with those of cinnamon and nutmeg. Good acidity with good tannin levels results in a wine of classic structure and long ageing potential.
The 2004 Chateau Musar is an equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault. This is a rather civilized, laid back Musar… Its balance, combining the nice fruit, elegant mid-palate, persistent finish and backbone, gives it a tightly wound, precise and focused demeanor.
Chateau Musar Red 2011 is a vibrantly powerful vintage with a traditional blend of approximately one third each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan. The bottling took place 3 years later in 2014, after the wines spent a year in French Nevers oak barrels.
A deep red colour, with aromas of sweet cherry, plum and dried fruit together with a subtle spice element and hint of tobacco. The wine has a soft, rounded mouthfeel with lots of flavour and fruit concentration – caramel, mocha, ripe red fruits which are supported with soft, velvety tannins and a spicy finish.
As usual a blend of cabernet, carignan and cinsault, the 2015 will go down in history due to minute yields as a result of damaging frost in spring and a heat wave in September. The wine is wonderful, full and supple with the spicy, leathery individuality that followers of this Lebanese icon so adore.
Chateau Musar is world-renowned, with the Hochar family making wines in Lebanon since 1930. A gloriously classy blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. Intense aromatics and concentrated flavours of cherry, tobacco, Mediterranean herbs and warm spices, backed up by satisfying tannins.
Musar Jeune Red wines are from our organically certified vineyards in the western Bekaa Valley and the 2019 vintage was harvested in late August. 2019 was an abnormal weather year in Lebanon with 3 months of continuous rain and snow but this was a welcome relief after successive years of drought. May was mild with some rain and sun and overall this was not a year of intense heat, resulting in red wines of somewhat discreet aromas but concentrated palates with lots of depth and layers of taste. The reds of this year will achieve big maturity with a strong potential for ageing. The 2019 vintage is a blend of Cinsault, selected from vineyards with varying age of vines (50%), Syrah (35%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%).
